Kosmina said the club had come together after hearing about Giir’s traumatic experience.

“A terrible thing happened to him and we as a club wanted to support him because he’s lucky to be standing next us today really. We want to help him to try and feel better about himself, Kosmina said.

“This sort of thing takes sport back to its roots. It’s not all about money and professionalism, it’s about community spirit and I think it’s nice that we remind ourselves that there’s a human side to it as well. We look at ourselves at Adelaide United as the people’s club, a team for the community so it’s nice to do something like this.”

Giir is a Sudanese refugee who arrived in Adelaide two years ago with his mother, three brothers and sister to get away from his war-ravaged homeland.

http://www.adelaideunited.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=5758&pageid=147

blog me up

bloggy blog blog blog

where to begin where to begin

Well lets begin with bucky

And his transformation into ‘CORPERATE FUCKHEAD’

Now it all started a couple months ago when bucky had this crazy idea of getting a full time job.

Then he got a job interview…maggoty mcbuck somehow managed to make it the meeting on time and discussed the economic issues facing dams today. They impressed with the young beaver and decided to make him a full time beaver.

Beaver

It about this time we started to notice and transformation in buck.

He started hanging around his new executive business buddies and began drinking imported beaver juice. guests to make nachos. Instead of admitting that I had no salsa sauce, mozzerella cheese or corn chips, I used tomato sauce, paremesan cheese and corn flakes. Upon taking this monstrosity out of the oven I sampled it and discovered that it tasted like crap (how can anyone eat dry cornflakes?) so I added milk and put it back in. It still tasted like crap so I added sugar. Too tart, so I added salt. Now it was just a mess, so I put in a scoop of ice cream and and served it.

Most of the guests never came back, and the few who did never asked me to cook again."

hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

PS. I woke up around 2.30 after watching staying up to watch angola play portugal. angola - great side...they shoot from halfway!

anyways after writing off the day as i meant to be doing my assignment (which im meant to be doing now) i ate something...hmmm what was it....oh thats right i didnt eat for ages. i got ready and i used my special lynx body gel. now a problem i have and im sure someone can help me with it is: i have recently started using this shower gel...and i find whenever i use it i use about a 1/15th of a bottle. now is this normal? or am i using too much? i use a scrubber so i apply the shower gel to the scrubber but it get used up very quickly..thus requiring me to reapply. anwyas i digress. i said goodbye to harry my dog and told her to play good tonight and drove off.

i thought id pop in for a bit to see ppl playing tennis near toms house. after stopping off and taking a tennis ball for my own personal enjoyment, i made my way to work. now being 5pm now i was starting to get more and more pumped up. work was fine...no dramas... i considered wearing my aus top to work but then it would have got dirty and all pizzery. anwyays i left work at 8.15, made my way back home, ate a small meatlovers pizza way too quickly then rubby picked me up to go to the hood.

now rub the nub thought we should get there at 6pm. to get a spot. when met with dissension to his idea, he said 'you guys are fucking idiots'. so we arrived at the pub at around 9.15 to see the pub only bout a 1/10 full.

got front row seats. the $5 draughts were flowing abudently from the 'dirty' (emil said it , not me) bar maid. mad. the pub was filling up more and more. quite a few ppl from the club there. woody drunk as usual and like lately...very annoying. dave was hobbling around. neris changed his top from cricket australia to football australia. spominator was in fine voice. the affster had to protect libster as she was the most asian person there. doochi was tehre with 'titties' . tombola arrived earlier than expected. toby arrived and had his pommy gameface on. arif came. man i cant remember who else. oh big steve was there. antionio avolioni and daniel.

the biggest no show was buck rei -i am gay - tano (credit dave for the name) who was weak as piss and was too busy squashing tomatoes.

anyways national anthems begun...sung with gusto and pride and then the game got underway. the wait was over! australia started quite brightly and viduka was in the thick of it early. emil came up with some nice calls. rob was giving us highly annoying commentary such 'YES TACKLE' if a tackle was made on the halfway line (im kididng rob calm down...im not..) . i myself found hte first half a strange experience... all the waiting and finally i was watching the game. it was all a bit surreal at first. hte half passed quickly and i didnt feel like i was with yet.

a half time of composure and prayer and reflection began. i wore the scarfe on my head for the first half so thought i better wear it the normal way for hte second. also i got a beer just as the half started as i didnt have a beer in my hand the first half. i changed position to stand at the bar to stand next to neris and anthony...who were quite pleasant ppl to watch a game with. minutes past and we didnt look like scoring. i began to think a change was required. all the adrelinine had worn all hte beer off. at the start of the night i thought i would stand at the front table where dave was. so at around the 75 min mark i squeezed in there and was sitting on the chair next to dave and tom and within talking distance of sydney qualifiers emil and rob. the change beagn a shift in the game.

kennedy was causing probs for the japs and we just needed that cutting edge. then i thought...the scarfe...something has to be done about teh scarfe. i put the scarfe around toms neck and almost immediately cahill sweeped the ball in. it had been done.. the scarfe worked.. minutes later cahill scythed down a jap in the box. no penalty. minutes later cahill thumps in the second! it was done! tom was a national hero!!!! everyone jumping around hugging each other... seeing aff, a critic of the real football for years, jumping around for joy was quite hte sight. no one could quite believe wat had happened. 3 goals in 8 minutes! makes life all that much more worth living

we went to town...and parking at hindmarsh square, lots of people we running around with aussie tops going nuts. cars weere beeping horns nad going crazy. we walked to rundle street thinking we would see some more pppl there.. the whole street was people going nuts!

simon hill said when we qualified...'this is a team from every community in australia, this is our team...and our team is going to the world cup!'
and our team just won our first game at the world cup!!!
YEHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shaunsalright.blogspot.com/2006/06/oh-what-night-do-do-ohhh-what-night.html' title='oh what a night!! ( If you dont wanna hear anything, then email to be removed from the list)

well i guess id start with last night and rate each player with scathing assessments

Schwarzer - What is there to say...i want his babies (10/10)

Emerton - Continues to frustrate with his lack of brain. Worried bout his defensive capabilities at right back as our right side will be tested alot in the first two games againt Nakamura and Ronaldinho. Still at least he didnt wander off onto other parts of the field like he usually does (5)

Moore - Thank God hes back for the world cup. The rock at the back. Provides experience and and a calming influence on the back four. Despite Van Horse scoring still marked him pretty well (6)

Neill - Hmmm...didnt notice him much...(5)

Chipperfield - Against one of the most skillful players in Europe (Henry said in an interview that Van Persie was the most skillful player at Arsenal) he performed quite well. Didnt let people in behind him (8)

Grella - VINCENZO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Along with Culina, the player whos improved the most under Hiddink. Screens the back four and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. Pressures all over the field, does the things that go unnoticed and sacrifices his own personal glory for the rest of the team. Altho last night, Holland was getting too much room when the ball was being half cleared by the defence on the edge of the penalty area (6.5)

Wilkshire - Given his big chance by Hiddink and its fair to say it couldnt have gone any worse. Looked out of his depth against Snjeider etc. Sent off...man id hate to be him right now (2)

Culina - "My Jason" (thanks dave) worked out hard...was a hard game for him to get forward as had alot of defensive duties (6)

Bresciano - same as Culina ... would like to see him get into more shooting position and let fly (6)

Sterjovki - Personally i dont think he is up to standard...doesnt provide any spark and and the formation we play, the forward 3 players must be able to win us the game. (4)

Viduka - Played well up front alone I thought. He looks in good form and ready for the world cup and to smash some japs. Pls dont let him take penalties in the world cup (6.5)

Cahill - What a legend. We need him to be fit for the opener. With him on the field we will always have a chance to win. Has the heart of a lexington orgasm (i dont know what that means) (100000)

Van Persie and Robben are little bitches

Also check this link out.....

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=370087&cc=3436

Im not sure if those crazy japs are just bluffing tho...Nakata is a power hungry jackass tho...hes past his best as well...Nakamura=gun

im putting this on my blog..then no one can complain i dont update my blog

wake me up...before you go go!

well after reading some others blogs ... its slowly dawned on me...i still have my own blog!!!!

so in the words of rob balestrin... A BLUE CAR!!!"

anyways you know what im sick of?people...all of you...you sicken me

another thing im sick of is bucky and his stupid msn ways. buck used to be a good person to talk to on msn. always guaranteed an hello. a quip here and there...few stories bout work on the dam. BUT LATELY...hes become very arrogant. puts the busy sign up, but convienently comes into conversations at his own leisure. lets get this right now buck. you have to make a commitment to msn conversations. not acceptable buck...me and emil are sick of it...lift your game.

does anyone watch 6 feet under? ive got into it lately which is strange seeing as my attention span is usually quite low... but yes i recommend it. its not a show you can just watch once and get into it. have to watch it a few times to see whats going on. actually what i did was go on wikipedia and read what happens in the entire series. i actrually know how everything ends. its a good tip to try and get into a show. go to wikipedia.. read everything that happens...if it sounds intriguing then watch the show. thats my tip of the week.

hmmm im doing a group assingment at uni...its a prety big one. ive contributed almost nothing so far but they seem to be progressing nicely. im a bit worried tho. a guy put up the report and what they have done so far...and it had the names of who was in the group...and mine wasnt in there...hmmmmmmmmmmmmm .... a bit worrying...

anyone got any good food places theyve been to lately? its getting harder and harder to find quality, good value for money food.. all these shit cafes with theyre overpriced crappy food...gimme a 30 cent soft serve anyday. actually if you have time, i recommend going to the reject shop and purchasing a $1 packet of crispy M&Ms and then a 30 cent pigs fat. the combo is unbeatable. make sure tehyre crispy M&ms tho.. they complement the soft luscious pig fatty hungry jacks icecream perfectly.

funny storyi recently got the album 'throwing copper' by live off rashi...havent listneed to it properly yet. but a song on there brought back memories...about 3 or 4 years ago now on one of our end of year trips , a few of us were in pt vincent (somewhere i cant remember) . anyway on fri night we decided to venture to the local pub. now the folk in this pub were what you would expect in a country pub. quite boganish. there was one particular fellow who was playing the spoons...i mean really playing hte spoons... yokel spoons. it was quite a sight.
anyway then ol rubby 'boigs 'boigletron' tron' berto 'nub 'just my luck'nah yeh' bortron spotted a jukebox and decided to plays some tunekis. shit towne by live is blasted around the pub.

the lyrics for the song are:"gotta live...gotta live...gotta live in... SHIT TOWN!"

hahahaha nice one tron berto

what else...harry kewell has got a new haircut for the world cup...short and neat...must have heard robs advice for looking good for the ladies

anywya thats all i got for now.
my first tip..if messi is fit, you all have to watch him play...hes one of those players that makes you happy to be alive

actually ill make a small list of players i enjoy watching (the happy to be alive list)
in no particular order
-ronaldinho
-messi
-zidane
-kewell
-puyol + marquez
-riquelme
-rooney
-kaka
-rubby bortron

thats all for now

Dickhead number 2

Naughton has a dickhead friend...

Nationalism hijacking sport is a real worryBy Greg BaumDecember 14, 2005

"ONE month, Australians mass with their flags and their anthem at Stadium Australia and howl at those who are not like us. The next, a few kilometres away at Cronulla, Australians mass with their flags and their anthems and howl at those who are not like us. The comparison is unavoidable and disturbing.

Australians in this mood echo to strains of other places and other times. They place outsized store by symbols of their nationhood.

They do not just wave flags, but brandish them. They do not simply sing the anthem, but chant it, and drown out any other with booing. Nowhere is there the suggestion of humour that might suggest a sense of proportion has been kept.

Even Waltzing Matilda becomes a war cry.

These nationalists are obsessed with icons. Do not touch our women, or our beaches, but especially do not touch our surf-lifesavers. Do not claim a God-given right to be at the World Cup; we are, after all, the sporting centre of the universe.

It might be coincidence that the riots in Cronulla followed so soon after the World Cup qualifier, but it might not.

Like other countries in other times, Australia idealises itself through sport. Like other countries in other times, Australia is swaggering about just now, thrusting itself in the world's face, full of sporting braggadocio. Australians are flying the flag for Australia.

Perhaps this climate explains, but does not excuse, yesterday's revelation about a swimming coach in charge of Commonwealth Games hopefuls who, as part of a so-called boot camp, subjected the swimmers to mock executions. Some of them were only 16. The pictures were graphic.

Two issues arise. The first is about how someone in a position of responsibility could be so insular, so blind. Terrorism is still on the agenda, execution was until last week. Even if a coach still thought "bang, bang, you're dead" was a reasonable teaching method, he might have backed off just now. But sport often is its own self-contained world, oblivious to any other.

The second question is about the worth of a boot camp. It might be fine for an army, but is surely a nonsense for amateur swimmers training for a minor carnival.

If it is about team bonding, it is poppytrout. Even football teams, once beloved of ritual humiliation, go about their business in more sophisticated ways now.

Perhaps the theory of boot camp is that by such rigour we will build a super race. But will we distinguish between super race and superior race? Others in other times did not. I don't know the answer to Cronulla. But I do think that sport should be more alert to being hijacked to nationalism's cause. Possibly, we are claiming more than our due any way.

Qualifying for the World Cup was a wonderful boost to morale, but it is by its own definition a qualified achievement. Nothing has been won yet. In the meantime, do not dare to suggest that there was a fortuitous element to the win, or they will come with their anthem and their flags and their howling.

Last month, I was taken to task by readers for suggesting Australia's victory over Uruguay was diminished by the boorishness of the Sydney crowd in booing throughout the visitors' national anthem.

Did I not see, I was repeatedly asked, how Australians of all ethnic backgrounds rejoiced and were at one that night? Did I not see the unification of a nation in sport? I did. I also see now how shallow it was, and how short-lived."

YOUR GONNA DIE CLOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kevin Naughton the tool

Not sure how many people read his article on the weekend (Sunday Mail pg. 60). It was basically an outright attack on soccer with nothing to back it up (he says the game is only associated with hooliganism, riots and murders).
Found this on a local soccer forum.

(It's very long...Emil it's also about soccer so i dont expect you to read it)

Skip to the last half if you get bored.

EDIT: Just found the original article: It's at the bottom of the post.

"Not too naughty , just plain stupid!"

What a pity the socceroos won their way to the world cup and we have journalists who are still able to put a negative spin to it.Naughton has done an excellent job of producing an article that derides the greatest sport in the world and of continuing the mainstream Australian media's attempted suppression of the sport in the grandest of channel 7 traditions. He should be applauded loudly by all of those who long for the halcyon days of Australian sport when our nation's predominantly white anglo sporting appetitie was satiated by olympic glories, the winning of the ashes and by interstate and intrastate football rivalries. For a time when it was enough for them to lounge back on their verandahs safe in the knowledge that they could ride on the back of protected markets, safe in the knowledge that they did not have to venture out into the global marketplace, safe in their self containment, safe in the warm and cosy bosom of the motherland.

He will however, be ridiculed by not just those of us who love the game of world football, but by all of those forward thinking Australians who can see that those halcyon days are gone forever. The win by the socceroos is simply a microcosm of the greater picture of Australia joining the global village. It is reflective of ALL of the people in this country joining as one in an ever evolving Australian culture and taking ourselves to the world

The night in Sydney was more than just a football game, it was a defining moment when at the completion of the final act, a new national sporting spirit was born. For a precious few moments sport was able to transpose us out of our day to day lives, out of our personal comfort zones to a place where it didnt matter whether we were with our mates or not, in that momentthe person next to you was your best mate regardless of race colour or creed. The hugging and embracing of complete strangers in sheer delight is something that is not afforded to us very often, maybe 2 or 3 times in ones life can one be in a position to experience such unbridled joy. The sense of unification and patriotism that the moment brought is what i will remember from the night. Knaughton is the poorer for being unable to experience such emotion, stuck in the mire of stoicism and the traditional Aussie cultural cringe.

It may distress Knaughton to hear it, but there is an Australia that extends beyond the leafy Norwood bungalows, the cucumber sandwiches at Adelaide oval and the annual post christmas expectations that the lovely boys from West Lakes will go one better this year. There is also the Australia of 2nd and third generation post war immigration ethnic groups like the Italians, the Greeks, the British, the Eastern Europeans, who have all prospered through adversity and are an integral and essential part of Australian culture. Perhaps it is the free outpouring of human emotions that these ethnic groups show so expressively that upsets the reserved natures of the polite applause brigade. It's traditionally unaustralian to show too much emotion and it is the very nature of the world game that it causes emotions to run high, thats a little scary for the Knaughtons of the world.

If he cared to venture out into the real Australia he might notice the contributions of the afforementioned ethnic groups, the new influx of african immigrants, the already established and ever growing contributions from asian immigrants to our society.I suspect that what really is eating at Knaughton is not the world game and our entry to the world cup, it's the unspoken realisation that his utopian anglophilic Australia is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. While fine upstanding traditional Australian stock are busy making careers and money instead of babies, the ethnic communties will continue to shoulder the resonsibility of population growth. The undeniable past and future contributions to Australian culture that these groups bring will be amplified through the world game. All of these ethnic groups have one thing in common, football, and not as Naughton knows it but as the world knows it.

While Knaughtons comments on the surface could be construed as simple sensationalism to keep his editors happy by producing the obligatory backlash, "anything to make them buy papers" I think it goes deeper than that. It is a sign of the old australia struggling to hold on to the past, of not wanting to peep out from under the skirts of the of the motherland and take those first few tentative steps into the world.

The whole article was laughable but in reponse to some of the more ridiculous gems of journalism... Firstly, the use of the last post to create a cheap shot in a throwaway newspaper article is downright disrepectful. As is the playing of it at AFL games. The last post should never be used outside of the military context and to do so is unforgivable.

The booing of the Uraguayan anthem was a direct response to what they did to ours. It was a statement by the footballing public that we would not be intimidated any longer, that the dirty tricks would not work this time, that we we there to make a stand, and we did. Knaughton fails to recognise the fervour with which OUR anthem was sung, something that the cultural cringe does not allow at most Australian events where it is left to Julie to sing it while everyone else mumbles it akwardly. No at this event my friend, it was belted out by one and all and to hear 80000 people of all different origins declaring that they were girt by sea was truly memorable.

I actually managed to get out of the stadium having not had to dodge a single chair, after seeing a great game decided by the last kick. Somehow Knaughton construes a penalty shootout as luck rather than the ultimate test of skill, timing and of performance under the most intense pressure that it really is. Plenty of games are decided by the last kick, shot, putt or lap of the contest. I wonder if Mr Knaughton would say that Michael Jordan was lucky for making a buzzer beater, Tiger for making that chip in on the last hole or that Mark Riciutto was lucky if he kicked a goal after the siren to win next years grand final. Whilst the boys Aloisi and Vidmar may only be given a muted media reception now (after all it was only luck wasn't it?) in years to come they will be remembered and feted as the true South Australian sporting legends that they are.

Knaughton also manages to dengigrate our footballers for plying their trade overseas and that as a consequence we are not able to see them, sorry for taking on the world Kevin!Excuse me but when was the last time Cathy ran around Adelaide oval or Grant or Ian swam at the aqautic centre? Was that Adam Scott or Stuart Appleby I saw at Kooyonga last year? perhaps it was neither.Sure Leyton comes home once a year to Adelaide but how often does he play in Brisbane or Perth? Why can't i go and see Leyton playing at Memorial Drive on any given saturday afternoon Kevin? Of course we are only going to see our world stars on limited occasions. The obvious travel, financial and fixture considerations apply to all of our WORLD class sporting figures, to single out the football players is simply ridiculous.Yes Kevin , you can go and witness our Cricketers and AFL and Rugby players in the flesh and all power to them but they are irrelavant outside the confines of the commonweleath. If thats enough for you, then all power to you, me, i like my sport bigger thanks very much.

The world game is well and truly part of the sporting fabirc of this country. To say that a sport with the participation rate of world football is not a part of Australian sporting fabric is one of the more absurd comments that i have ever read. It may not get the blanket coverage of AFL and Rugby but in time it will. You just can't see it Kevin, shrouded as you are by the mist of antiquated white australia. The suppression of the world game in this country will be forced to end by the powers of international marketing and public and corporate opinion. The fabric has always been there, we just never had anyone to stitch all the patches together, that is, until now. In John Oneil and his team we have found truly world class sporting administrators to go with a truly world game.

Perhaps you may want to venture down to Manton street Kevin.Yesterday i saw a game at Hindmarsh Stadium, a game in which a boy from Whyalla scored a goal for South Australia's team after a flick on header by a chinese. In the same game TV viewers in Japan saw a Japanese score a great goal brilliantly set up by a West Indian much to the delight of their German coach.(and although greeted by silence, thouroughly enjoyed and appreciated by the home crowd) Ultimately a fantastic winning goal was scored for Adelaide by a Brazilian to the delight of all. What a great day out!Beware though Kevin, some supporters actually showed emotion and passion at the final whistle, it coud all be too much for you.

The future for the game and for Australia looks bright Kevin, it may take 20 years, maybe 30 years but don't worry too much, it won't take over in your journalistic lifetime. Your job is safe for the time being, you still have the scope to write the suppression rubbish for a few years yet , but the clock is ticking .........

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
World Game needs a little respect to win us over. by Kevin Naughton

What a pity the Socceroos won their way into the World Cup. Australia, delightfully free of the nationalistic and ugly fervour associated with the so-called world game, will now ride a wave of enthusiasm which will carry on until we're booted out of the 32 country tournament in July next year.

How sad it was to sit down in an Aussie lounge room and listen to fans at Sydney's Telstra Stadium, dressed in the green and gold, whistle and boo during the Uruguayan national anthem.

Fans justified their reprehensible behaviour by saying the Uruguayans did it to us during our anthem over there. How typical it is that soccer, the game of hooliganism, riots and murders, should be associated again with such crass behaviour. In a stunning display of how the game handles such problems, Sepp Blatter, the head of worldwide governing body FIFA, suggested it might be time to do away with anthems at games. He also suggested big games could be played on neutral grounds.

He's right on that score. Play it on the moon - on the dark side, where it belongs.

It also might be better to do away with the concept of one nation taking on another in a game where there's a fair chance no one will score for ages and it comes down to a few pot shots at the end. Compare it with rugby union in which Australians rejoice in the sight and sound of a New Zealand haka and the Kiwis stand strong and silent as they respect our national anthem.

Then there's AFL. Despite a hundred thousand fans being in one stadium, there's stunning silence for the Last Post on Anzac Day. During a cricket match at Adelaide Oval, we applaud the batting brilliance of opposing West Indies player Brian Lara. But no such niceties happen at the soccer, when national hatred is a trademark and respect is reserved for the nearest chair-throwing thug. Let's be honest here - the Socceroos are a bunch of expatriates mixed in with a few locals who get us excited every four years or so. They rarely play here. International soccer is not part of the Australian sporting fabric.

How many times had the oddly titled national side played in Adelaide in the last decade - at full strength? The scourge that is soccer has been kept at bay in Australia because it just doesn't fit into the Aussie attitude.

Its failure to make a mark at local level was because of its ridiculous fascination with old ethnic loyalties which made no sense in the southern hemisphere. If the team had lost to Uruguay in that penalty shootout, we would have been spared for another four years. And be fair - winning in a a penalty shootout is more about luck than anything else. Bring on July 2006, when it is all over and we can return to watching sport where national anthems are reserved as a moment of importance, not stupidity.

WHAT A WANKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 DAYS ! After losing the first match against Turkey 1-0, their last game is meaningless. With the A-League in full swing and the Australia World Cup qualifier coming up, the match may be overlooked. But what it shows is the complete downfall of the Australia's youth set up in the last decade. When I was growing up, I would look forward to staying up or waking up early to watching the youth tournaments. Unlike the full internationals, Australia was always competitive in youth tournaments and had young exciting players who were actually good to watch. Who could forgot Ned Zelic's goal from an impossible angle against Holland to lead them to victory. AGAINST HOLLAND! A world football powerhouse! To indicate how backwards we have gone, you just had to see Australia-Holland in the recent u/20 World Cup. Beaten 3-0 comfortable, it was almost embarassing. We never even looked like getting near their goal. While they had players who were playing for Ajax, Arsenal, Feyenoord etc, our top players were struggling the old NSL.

Thankfully, the u/17s elimination hasn't gone completely unnoticed. Craig Foster in the paper said that it was 'rubbish' and the football we have been playing is 'crap'. I've heard him before on the World Game talk about the way kids aged around 10 years old are trained. Running, running and more running. Kids that age should be on the ball for the whole training. What the hell is the point of making them run the whole training? Kids that age run around the whole day anyway so they don't need fitness training. The problems start that early in the development. Players grow up to be machines with no technique or flair.

Former coach Les Scheinflug who led the youth teams through success (even taking the u/17s to the World Cup final just 5 years ago) has also called for heads to roll.

-there are "too many non-football" people in Football Federation Australia; said we are stuck with an "outdated English football mentality"
-"We have to get back to the basics of teaching techniques, skills, vision and speed. Bring in South American and French coaches.

A good example of a proper set up is in France. Gerard Houllier was in charge of the French youth set up in Clairfontaine in the 90s and basically they had a certain philosphy about the football their national teams would play, from the youth to the full team. This provided consistency throughout the whole set up and most importantly, produced technically gifted players who played the game properly. This also facilitated easier changing of coaches:
-Even if the Federation suddenly decides to appoint a different national coach, the team the philosophy and the continuity are already in place.
France in the 90s after the Platini-peroid in the 80s were rubbish. They failed to even make World Cup 94. However the generation that came out of Clairefontain won World Cup 98 and EURO 2000 and have arguably produced the best player of our generation, Zidane.

And even after failing in 2001, we kept on with Frank bloody Farina. Seriously he set football back in this country 10 years. People may say if we don't make it, that Guus Hiddink is a waste of money, but when you look at what he has got to work with then it puts it into perspective. Australia struggled to beat Iraq and Indonesia because they have absolutely no idea how to play. He played players like Emerton over Culina just because of reputation.

CHANGES HAVE TO MADE. OVERHAUL THE YOUTH SETUP. GET RID OF THE ENGLISH MENTALITY AND GET COACHES WHO FOCUS ON TECHNIQUE AND KEEPING POSSESSION OF THE BALL!!!

Another thing I can't stand is all the morons who say the English Premier League is the best league in the world. Well if you go in terms of which the most predictable, boring, non-imaginative, kick and run league then yes it wins hands down.
And the worst thing is the amount of coverage it gets in Australia. I seriously reckon there is some conspiracy where the Australian Football Federation sold their soul to England in the 90s and basically said we will base our whole setup on theres and give their league maximum coverage.
What the hell has England won since I've been alive? ..................................................................
NOTHING

People need to watch the Spanish and even the Italian league to a degree. Technique, skill, flair and Ronaldinho!! They actually keep possession of the ball and don't just boot it forward when their right or left back gets the ball.
No wonder our youth teams are crap.

Even Adelaide United are crap to watch. I will support them no matter what but jebus...cmon Kosmina seeing United scrap through for another hard fought 1-0 victory gets boring after a while. Queensland Roar are the best team I have watched so far but they won't win anything.

Anyway what a rant.

In summary Australian football sucks cause all we produce now are players who are boring and basically an English clone.

The late Johnny Warren always stated that we have to learn so much more from the South Americans. The 'beautiful' game. The way football is meant to played. Fun and carefree.

Saying all that, CMON WE GOTTA BEAT THOSE SOUTH AMERICAN BURRITOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Due to Popular Demand!!! This certain GREEK individual says they are too 'emo' and the lyrics make no sense. What he fails to include though is his hero is Maynard James Keenan. BalesTRON or TRONbert B. had strong views on the grooming of a young male. he believes that you should be presented clean shaven and with a nice hair cut to the appease the LADIES. myself and others argued that you should groom yourself how you want to because feeling comfortable about yourself is the most important thing. robs argument against that was "guys........you dont know shit". now im no sandy cohen (LADIES)....but dressing or grooming yourself just to please 'the ladies' isnt the way to go. anyway most of the girls who go for guys with the latest haircut or $600 jeans are just 'buck chicks' (ask buck for a definition). im not saying we cant dress up and look nice. who doesnt love the ol exfoliation every now and then. i never start the day without my icepack either.
anyway this isnt directed at our favourite autobot...just an interesting discussion

Optimus TRON commands you to shave and cut your hair!!!

Another topic close to my heart, is the band KID COURAGEOUS. For anyone who hasnt of them, they are officially the WORST BAND EVER. they are a bunch of emo losers. their music is shit. the guys voice sounds like a 15 year old girl. after a bit of reseach, i have found that there is a forum where the member of the band read..i encourage all of you to write on the forum how much you hate them and tell what a bunch of makeup wearing panzies they are.

http://www.punknetwork.net/kidcourageous/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=233a412ff677c47bd747212a950993a2

im not one who really cares about what other people listen to. its their choice....but anyone that likes this band must die. verrrrrrrrry painfully....

i just some more on the band, from a guy that writes for a music magazine and saw kid courageous and 3 other bands perform...

"so the band up next "kid corageous" after what seemed and hour of set up time, the guys looked to have some tech problems and had to leave the fronteman's keyboard off stage....yes i have seen the film clip and heard the cover song these guys do, yes i think it's catchy, poppy and all the rest of the hype. but if anyone else saw what i saw that night it was a bunch of kids whinging about the in house sound system, smashing glasses, spitting water and beer on there gear and crowd...all the other bands had problems with the p.a and mic system but made do and got on with it. kid c just had a little hissy fit which will cost there management thousands to fix. these guys made no effort to thank any of the other bands who played on the night."

now if i need anymore convincing that this band must die, here it is...

Hands on my head: "EMMMOOOOOOO"

goddamit i hate emo's. ''oh im so alternative and different from everyone else because i dress differently and wear make-up to hide the emotional stress and pain im in." AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in pro evo news (after 4 failed master league attempts)...Fans are after Coach George's head after traded league leading scorer Takahara for Francesco 'Exfoliation A++' Totti. Early performances from Totti have been dismal with his only goal coming from the penalty spot.

ANDDD finally...

Some people...

During my travels through the internet i visit other peoples blogs...and then others links of those blogs to people i dont even know...i live a sad sad life

anwyay here are some excerpts from these blogs commenting on the Corby case (Keeping in mind, being from Australia we are superior beings and can pass judgement on everyone else)

kOrNGirl who lists her favourite band as Korn says....

"they should at least give her back the weed so she can enjoy her stay.. and what i also think is really unfair which i might add is that us australians helped out those fuckers during the tsunami we gave them so much shit and money and they repay us by putting one of our innocent people in jail what pigs! some guy on the news said that if she hadve pleaded guilty and apoligised then they wouldve let her off.. "

Hmmm...did the guy on the news also say Korn are cool?

Another blog from a 15 year old psuedo intellectual...

"Another disturbing thing is that about Schapelle Corby. I feel so angry about her getting twenty years and a fine of $14 grand. The Bali Bomber got two years. Where the fuck is the justice, people? I think they arrested her and fined her so much because she's foreign...Remember, why should we support a country that damns us and forgives the maniacs of its own? Boycott all of Indonesia and ask for your Salvo money back. "

Yeh...kill the salvos!!! theyre all terrorists!!!
Kill Bucky too!!! look how short he is!!! he must be a terrorist!!!

Anyways we may be the luckiest country in the world but some of the stupidest people in the world still live here.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my second post in 2 days!!!!!!!!!

Pro evolution soccer 4 is the greatest soccer game ever made. it has provided me with much joy. but with this joy has come unbelievable fustration.
you see the pinacle of PE4 is the Master League. This is where you begin in the lowest league and progress through the game trying to get promotion to div 1. you see this all sounds normal. except you have to begin the game with players who absolutely SUCK! they are made up players so its quite dificult to win. As you win more and gain points, you can sign better players (its hard to get to good players to your club).

Anyways each player has a salary based on how good they are. And at the end of every season you have to pay the whole teams salary. If you dont have enough points (which are earned by winning games, and other bonuses like winning hte league, top goalscorer, MVP etc) then teh game ends. OR if you points drop below 0.

Also causes its a proper game unlike crappy FIFA the game is autosaved so if your points go under 0 you lose and you cant get your game back.

SO a few months back i won promotion to div one. all was looking rosy. UNTIL I DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH POINTS TO PAY MY PLAYERS AT THE END OF HTE SEASON. this was due to my signing cech (chelsea keeper) right before when you are meant to pay the players. SO GAME OVER. SOO ANNOYING!

well i thought...ok ill learn from it and start again. a new team. new start

SO I DID THIS...after winning promotion to the first division and sitting 3rd at the midway point of the season and in teh second round of hte cup, everything was going smoothly. i was going to unload the stupid monkey kezman cause he cant score for crap and the jap man takahara was starting to get on my nerves.
Some clever transfer moves enabled me to get SAVIOLA, MARTINS, MARQUEZ AND STEVEN GERRARD!!!!!!!!!!!!
add this to nakata, claudio lopez WHAT A TEAM!

AND THEN I WENT TO THE NEXT SCREEN.....

GAME OVER

im going to cry....i put so much effort into that team.... going TO CRY!!!!!!!
i dont even know if i can be bothred starting again...its just not fair..

On another note jamie oliver has some wierd show on tv where he is cooking in front of a live audience. he is a bit annoying but i like him cause he cooks stuff. but this is ridiculous. how full of himself is getting?
for example he is a HUGE theatre and hes on the stage cooking etc. at the start of the show he ordered pizza from dominos to show his pizzas are better or something (who knows). anyway just then the delivery driver walked on stage and acted like he was heaps confused over the whole thing and he didnt know what was going on. and jamie oliver paid the guy and gave him a big tip and acted like he was so good cause he thinks hes funny..
YOU STUPID MORON
NAH CAUSE YOU WOULDNT REALISE DELIVERING A PIZZA TO A HUGE FRIGGING THEATRE IS A BIT STRANGE
AND THEN WALK ON THE STAGE...NAH THATS NORMAL;
I MEAN HOW THE HELL WOULD HE EVEN JUST WALK STRAIGHT ON STAGE WITHOUT KNOWING WHATS HAPPENING

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

the acting was as bad as david in neighbours today...
'who would want to frame me?'

HAROLD: 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr oh david brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr'

anyway david went and punched paul in the head...

good on him. hopefully he cant punch lyn in the head as well

goodbye cruel world. hellooooooo woolworths!

ong Back!!!!! or is he?

well well well....he's back!!! in POG FORM!!!!

A long time between blog entries. A lot has happened...not much of it worth writing about! so ill inform you on some of the more interesting events in the past couple months (most of it will probably involve food)

dont ever work at woolworths. i need sats off to play soccer. and i was told to do this i have to write to the store manager. so i do that...next week the roster comes out and IM STILL ROSTERED ON SATS. now what teh hell is the point of following the proper procedure if it doenst make a difference. the stupid morons at my store wont hire new staff because htey say it costs them too much to train the new staff. now the people who have done the induction day at woolworths will know why. BECAUSE ITS 8 (PAID) HOURS OF ABSOLUTE CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. i hate woolworths...an example of how stupid they are is they dont have cameras down aisle 2...THE LOLLY AND CHOCOLATE AISLE!!! well done woolworths...ill fill in there...FILL MY STOMACH WITH YOUR CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!
ps. dave...transfer me to athelstone...ill be good.
could anyone imagine working with buck? id be tempted to throw a can of dog food at his head.
dave told me he caught buck gnawing on one of the shelves the other night at work

now onto the most important matter. FOOD.
during my days on this earth i aim to find the best most cheapest food. a contradiction of terms u might say. well i say good day to you sir.
while wandering thru hindley street with rashi we came across the arcade where that shitty Shin-shitty-tokyo is. just past it is a asian food place. this is where i found it
DIM SIMS FOR 80 CENTS EACH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH BABY
SHAUN INDICATING HE CANT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now this arent youre regular fish and chip dim sims....they are the round ones with the crispy batter and the nice fatty meat inside.OH BABY!!!
many a dim SIM ( GET IT BUCK) will be consumed there....(nudge nudge wink wink) ;) ;)
not sure whre that camr from. sorry buck.. nudge

in indoor soccer news real madras won a close encounter against undecided 4-3 with innamorati facing disciplinary action for a non appearance due to mama's day commitments and wankov went keeper due to brian disapearing off the face of the earth. wankov keeping skills also now includes the regular saving the ball with his face at least a couple times a game and blinding himself for the next hour.
speaking of blindess ROB GET SOME FREAKING CONTACTS. rob insists every week playing indoor blind without glasses or contacts. rob also went keeper in a real madras scratch match with hillarious results. while emil uses his croat face in kamikazi style, rob shields his beautiful moisturised face and crawls into a ball. i bet if it the ball was an icepack you wouldbt be so afraid.
iron chefs lost for the 3rd week in a row. the highlight was buck beavering in goals like it was the last wood he would ever gnaw.

in closing you would think that since i last blogged something interesting would have happened in my life. well at least im glad ive wasted 5 mins of youre life.

My closing interesting fact:
Did you know buckheads birthname is Michelle?
yes thats right...'he' is really a girl...

JUST LIKE CIARRA....TAKE THAT BALESTRIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeh i love the way she one two steps LIKE A FREAKING MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when will the funnies ever end...

blog me up

Hello everyone...welcome to Shaun's blog.

Rather than concentrate on boring stuff like me life such as everyone else does I will instead concentrate on something that actually interesting...such as sport. Actually basically soccer to be precise.

I think will start my first rant on something which is close to my heart. How boring tennis is...now recently I have actually been watching some of the Australian Open (yes a closet lord some might say) and I must say I have been getting into this whole 'tennis' thing a lot more than usual. Now one thing that still remains the same is how incredibly BORING tennis players are, how stupid tennis commentators are and how bad channel 7s coverage is. An example of how boring tennis is how much coverage has been given towards Chela spitting in the 'general direction of Hewitt'. Now i watched the replay of this incident and given all that I has heard about it I was Chela to go up to Hewitt spit right in his face!! But nooooo it wasnt even near him! In the premier league Diouf has spat on his opponents at least 3 times this season. But you dont hear soccer people going on and on about it. Well before you ask what is my point, my point is tennis is boring and it always will be. Spectators should be allowed to spit on the players when they miss a shot. And the player that loses should be shot. That way eventually there would be no more tennis players and the sport would cease to exist.

Now onto how much I hate Luis Garcia. For those who dont know who he is, he was signed in the off season for Liverpool by Benitez from Barcelona and was given the number 10 jersey. Everyone knows that if you wear the number 10 top, you are expected to be good. Luis Garcia is the biggest pansy crap loserish crap player I have ever seen. He prances around losing the ball at least 23834 times every match and then every 3 games will actually do something good. By something good i mean something that he expected to do EVERY game. The thing that annoys me most about him is that stupid Liverpool supporters actually think hes good.
I'll put a picture up here of him and you can also see why i want to kill him so much!
Im looking at the picture right now... If that was my tackling him I would have put my studs through his head. Look at his face!!! ARRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

After all my blog entries im gonna leave a question and i wanna see what ppl say... Todays question is...
If you entered a person's home while the owner was not there and saw medication lying on the table, would you pick up the medication and study it carefully to see what ailments the person is suffering from? Or would you just leave it?
(I should add that you don't know the owner of the house very well and he doesnt even know youre in his house)
